Parmenides (Part I)
The central speaker of this remarkable dialogue is the philosopher Parmenides, revered and advanced in years. Alongside him is a very young and inquisitive Socrates, whom Parmenides is tasked with guiding in the art of reasoning. Other characters also make an appearance, and although their names may appear familiar to some, they merit some research time. The reader should be mindful of possible anachronisms and consider the idea of intellectual lineage.
Ultimately, this dialogue centres on the mental practice of the nine hypotheses. It can be seen as an unfinished whole, inviting the reader to actively engage in its profound and beautiful reasoning.
