Death
Those genuinely conversant with classical philosophy pursue the study of how to die and being dead, and the others remain unaware of this fact.
Those who are true classical philosophers aspire to death and are worthy of death.
And do you believe in death?
Is it nothing other than the separation of the soul from the body?
Is it not this, to die when the body is being freed from the soul and subsisting apart, and the self abides by self? And correspondingly, the soul is separated from the body and subsisting apart, and the self abides by self.
Is death anything else but this?
Plato, The Phædo (Socrates and Simmias)
Be careful here. In the eyes of the classical philosopher, to die and being dead is not the same as the state of death.
